Atypical Arts Presents is delighted to invite you to our first in a series of cool concert for kids (big or small).  Valerie June kicks-off our first kids concert with her welcoming brand of Organiic "Sunshine" Roots Music that's sure to make you want to jump up and dance, sing along or just clap your hands and tap your toes!  So turn off the cartoons and bring the kids to this fantastic free concert featuring the acclaimed recording artist Valerie June:

Hers is a twilight voice, a liquid silk from the heart of Tennessee.  It is tailor-made for lullabies and lyric blues; and so, for that matter is Valerie June's spirit.  A self-taught guitarist, banjoist and songwriter, June has crafted a sound that draws on the best of southern traditions.  This is organic moonshine roots music, a warm pastiche of achin' vintage country and powerful delta blues - a style she had delivered on three solo albums, including her eponymous 2010 release.  Although she's re-located from Memphis to NYC, Valerie June’s music has been embraced with growing praise throughout the US and Europe (where she is currently on tour). Valerie has collaborated onstage, written songs with and recorded in the studio with such notable friends as Keith Secor (Old Crow Medicine Show), Cody Dickinson (North Mississippi All-Stars), R&B star John Forte & is currently working on her next recording with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys producing.

This is a free show, no ticket is required (although if you like what you hear a suggested donation after the show would be appreciated).  Due to the theater's limited capacity, we have made available a limited number of VIP Passes to guarantee your entrance for only $5 per person (really just an advance on the suggested donation).  We expect this to be a very popular event, so please consider confirming your VIP Pass to secure your entry.

  • Free admittance is based on space (VIP ticket holders are guaranteed admittance)

ATYPICAL ARTS PRESENTS

ATYPICAL means out-of-the ordinary and that’s exactly what we’re bringing to Jacksonville. Our plan is simple - present great artists (many who rarely, if ever, tour this way) in unique, environments that allows for a very friendly interaction between artist and audience.

Atypical Arts Presents producer Jimmy Saal has a long and varied resume in the music business, having worked on-staff for over 10 years at both Vibe & Spin Magazines, as well as at Central Park SummerStage, Lincoln Center Festival and MJI Broadcasting (managing production for multiple broadcast events at the Grammy and Country Music Awards).  It’s that experience, combined with friendships with lots of incredible artists, that allows us to create unique music events.

We have a lot of really cool events coming up, so be sure follow us online:
